I never get tired off bringing an engine back to life. Especially outside the original vehicle. It feels like getting a mechanical heart to beat before inserting it back in the body.
The 200 Tdi Defender engine in the video has a live feed from the battery connected to the starter motor. I've earthed it to the gear box. We've got a temporary heater plug lead and the fuel pickup dropped into a jerrycan with a drop of red diesel.
First, I give it some heat to start off. Connect up the fuel solenoid cut-off supply (one-handed so I can hold the camera). And we're ready for ignition.
We're rocking and rolling. Test went well. My only concern's the turbocharger. It's not spinning. Very stiff. Very squeaky. It wants to be changed.
These are the sorts of video updates I give my clients when I'm working on a project for them.
